Special Notice:

Regretfully, APPCA is announcing the cancellation of this year's World Powered Parachute Championship. Conflicts with planning and presenting the event have come up and we do not want to present anything but the highest quality event possible.

This is only a one year delay in championship events. Next year we look forward to hosting the 2006 Pan-American Microlight Championships also to be held in Greenville, Illinois. This event will not only include powered parachutes, but will also include powered paragliders. The bid was submitted to FAI, the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, at the Lausanne, Switzerland meeting in November of 2004 and final acceptance of the bid is expected at the meeting to be held in November of 2005.

Already the FAI Microlight Commission's Second Vice President, Carlos Trigo from Portugal, has visited the town of Greenville and the Greenville Airport and is supporting the bid. Things are moving
smoothly to accomplishing a historic event. Namely, an FAI sanctioned continental microlight championship in the Americas.

We appreciate the ongoing support from our sponsors, the competitors, and most importantly the visitors to this fun and exciting event. Everyone I've talked to about this decision has been very supportive. We hope to see all of you in 2006!

While powered parachutes are vehicles that use a parachute for a wing, powered paragliders are foot-launched devices. The two types of aircraft, while similar, still have very different performance characteristics. The foot-launched powered paragliders are able to manuever tighter than even the powered parachutes.

That means that there will be two separate competitions happening together. That will keep both the announcers and the spectators busy catching all of the action!

The Chute-Out on the Prairie is designed to provide powered parachutists a venue in which to compete for honors in flight skills. With a great combination of prizes and challenging tasks, the pilot that wins in this competition will have bragging rights as the best in the sport. Thanks to great sponsors like Powrachute and Performance Designs, the Chute-Out on the Prairie offers larger prizes than any other competition in the ultralight world.

Precision is the focus of this competition. Mastery of the machine and being able to put it where it needs to be, when it needs to be there, is what being a champion here is all about.

As always, this event also offers spectators a Festival in conjunction with the four days of competition. This year there will be lots of things for the whole family to enjoy.

Inflatables for the kids is a feature that keeps the active ones busy. A craft show that promises to be one of the best of the season offers shopping opportunities for those interested in hand crafted items.

Motorcyclists are welcome, too. Last year we began a motorcycle show that brought in some incredible bikes. Everyone enjoyed that and we will continue that new tradition.

For those interested in learning more about the sport of powered parachuting, there will be vendors, forums, and experts on hand to talk to you about the sport.

The Chute-Out is a great time whether you are a long time soft wing aircraft fan, someone newly interested in the sport or if you are just looking for a fun event to visit for an afternoon. Come join the rest of the powered parachuting and powered paragliding world for a great time!
